The drake being striking in appearence having a beautiful pink breast dotted with black and a lead blue bill. He doesnt assume eclipse plumage. The female has white eye brows and lines behind the eyes.
They lay small stony white eggs that take 23 days to hatch. Typically 5-8 in a clutch. Nests are made in hole boxes typically later in the season.
They are easily tamed active little birds that remain in colour all year round.
