Spaniorum Waterfowl

Non Standard Call Ducks:

There are many colours of calls availiable at present. Some have recognised standards of perfections whilst newer additions dont.

Colours available range from self colours like Chocolate Calls to the intricately marked Butterscotch. I keep and breed;

  • Apricot Silver and Blue Silver.
  • Yellowbelly.
  • Appleyard Calls and Butterscotch.

Apricot Silver Call Ducks.

The Apricot Silver Call is a very pretty colour being an intermediate between the Silver pattern and Apricot colouration. They are perhaps the most popular colour of Non Standard call. And will shortly be standardised.

The duck mimics the Silver duck  pattern but varies in colouration. She has lovely warm apricot mottling on her chest and a pearl grey speculum. Drakes also match the Silver Call drake patternation but differ by colour. He has a pigeon blue head colour with a white collar completely encircling the neck. Light mulberry trails down the upper flanks and he has a pearl blue speculum to match the duck.

Yellowbelly Call Ducks.

Yellowbelly Calls are perhaps the only colour amongst calls not to match a larger breed of Domestic. There is little information on how this unusal colour was created or behind the genes. They closely follow the Mallard Call pattern but with dramatic colour variation.

The ducks chest, flanks and abdomen are a warm buff colour with Mallard pattern on her back, wings and face markings. She has a blue speculum. In comparison the drake unless heavily marked looks almost identical to a Mallard Call drake. But on picking up and examining he reveals a light buff lower abdomen which starts just cranial to the sternum.

Appleyard Call Ducks.

Perhaps the rarest of my Non Standard Calls. The Appleyard has cropped up only just recently. It mimics the Large Appleyard and Miniature Silver Appleyard for colour but has Call size and type.
